
As part of their studies all pupils participate in a number of educational visits throughout the year. These visits enhance the work being studied within class and focus on a range of subjects. As well as going out on visits we also have a number of visitors into school to talk to the children or provide workshops. Where possible, every class undertakes one educational visit per term.

Residential Trips
Form Four pupils visit our local PGL Adventure Holiday at Caythorpe for a two day/overnight stop.
The children participate in a range of activities including: zip wire, Jacob’s ladder, the big swing, abseiling, canoeing and many more. The visit forms part of our PSHE and P.E curriculums, as well as helping to develop team building and improve communication skills.
Form Five pupils are taken on a five day/four night Geography, History and Science based field trip to North Yorkshire during the early part of the Summer Term. They stay at Cober Hill, Cloughton on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. From there, daily excursions take place which include visits to the following places of interest:
- RSPB Bempton Cliff
- Flamborough Landing
- A train journey on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway
- Scarborough Castle
- The old Coastguard Station at Robin Hood’s Bay
- Cloughton Village survey
- Whitby Abbey
- Whitby Museum
- Eden Camp
Form Six pupils have made a four day/three night visit to London during the Summer Term for the last two years. This trip has formed part of their P.S.H.E, Science and History curriculum visiting many of the top attractions. These have included:
- The Science Museum
- Natural History Museum
- Hampton Court
- Houses of Parliament
- The London Eye
- London Film Museum
- A West End Musical
- CBBC TV Centre
- Tower Bridge
- Open Top Bus Tour
However, this year we are looking at changing their residential to a five day/four night Geography, History and Science based residential to Llandudno in North Wales which will focus on the topic they do on the mountain environment. It will include the children visiting:

- The Great Orme Tramway
- The Ffestiniog Railway
- Lleechwedd Slate caverns
- Electric Mountain Visitors Centre
- Beaumaris Castle, Gaol and Courthouse

A wide range of activities are provided to enrich the children’s experiences. The children are encouraged to pursue their interests by participating in various lunch-time (12.30 – 1.30pm) and after school activities (3.30 – 4.15pm).
