New responsibilities
A very warm welcome from Highfields Key Stage 2 (KS2) department, which comprises Form 3 to Form 6, and which continues to build on the excellent grounding offered by the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 (Infant Department).

We pride ourselves on our high expectations and have created a curriculum which we feel allows all of our children the opportunity to succeed and caters for a wide range of interests. The timetable has recently been reorganised to promote this broad curriculum, which, whilst placing great emphasis on English and Maths, includes Science, Humanities, French, ICT, RE, Art and Design, PSHE, Music, PE and Games.
As we prepare the children for secondary school, they benefit from many specialist teachers, having a chance to move around the school to work in different classrooms whilst remaining under the care and guidance of a Form Teacher, who also serves as the principal contact for parents. All Form Teachers have an open door policy and welcome parents to come in and discuss any concerns, matters of interest or progress, at their convenience and this is a valuable asset to our family policy.

We ensure that the Form 6 children take on new responsibilities in their final year, such as House Captains and Head Boy and Head Girl. This allows our Form 6 children to lead and encourage and instils in them both a sense of pride and leadership.
All children are actively encouraged to take advantage of the wide-range of extra-curricular activities which have been made available to them, many requested at school council meetings.
From Judo to Spanish, from Gymnastics to Chess, the currently available range of activities and clubs covers a very wide spectrum of interests!
In addition, the school also offers residential trips so that all children in the KS2 department can look forward to a varied programme of stimulating educational activity away from the usual school or home environments.
It is our wish that all children in the KS2 department develop a real love of learning and an enquiring mind, and that they will leave Highfields with happy memories, secure and well prepared to embark on the next stage of their academic career. To this end, additional support is especially provided to prepare the children thoroughly for the 11+ and Common Entrance exams.
